Tension as fire engulfs popular Wuse market
A blaze has engulfed parts of the bustling Wuse market in Abuja, the nation’s capital, leaving it in wake.
Videos circulating on social media capture the chaos as flames consume numerous shops, prompting frantic efforts by people to escape the inferno.
Authorities from the federal capital territory (FCT) fire service have mobilized to the scene to combat the blaze, though the cause remains uncertain at this time.

Speculation suggests that the fire may have erupted amid tensions following an alleged fatality during a clash between FCT taskforce officials and market traders, though this is yet to be confirmed.
Police presence has been heightened, with reports indicating that access to the market has been restricted.
As of now, no official statement has been issued by the Abuja Market Management Limited regarding the incident.
This comes just weeks after a similar fire incident ravaged the private residence of Mariya Mahmoud, the minister of state for the FCT.
