University student reported missing on her way to lectures

Janet Kyeme, a 200level student at the Federal University in Lokoja, has vanished under unexplained circumstances while on her way to attend classes.
The worrying incident unfolded early on Friday morning as she embarked on her journey to the main campus in Felele, Lokoja.
Concerns mount over the possibility of her disappearance being linked to a potential abduction, although concrete information remains elusive.
Reports gathered by City & Crime reveal that Janet, who is studying Library and Information Science (LIS), was last seen that fateful Friday morning boarding a motorcycle from her family residence in the Zango – Army Barracks area of Lokoja towards the university.
Alarm bells rang when she failed to return home that day, prompting her foster father, a local pastor, to sound the alarm.
Despite attempts to reach her, Janet’s phone remained unreachable, heightening worries about her safety.
Speaking on behalf of the distressed family, Pastor Joseph disclosed that their efforts to locate Janet, including sending a relative to the university, proved fruitless, intensifying fears about her well-being.

In response to the distressing situation, university officials assured the public of their staunch commitment to locating Janet.
Collaborating with law enforcement agencies and relevant stakeholders, the institution pledged to exhaust all avenues in the quest to find the missing student.
An anonymous director, acknowledging the sensitivity of the issue, refrained from disclosing specifics details but remained hopeful of a positive resolution.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, confirmed that Janet’s case is being treated as a missing person’s matter, with no ransom demands or contact from potential abductors, leaving authorities with ongoing inquiries to determine her whereabouts and ensure her safe return.
“She left for school early Friday morning as usual. When she did not come back from school that day, her foster father, a pastor and others called, but could not reach her as her cell phone was switched off.
“A sister was sent to the school to confirm her whereabouts without success. Apprehension has gripped the family over her fate, as no contact has been made to the family from any quarters since her sudden disappearance,” said Pastor Joseph, a close friend of the family.
“The school authorities have taken appropriate action in conjunction with security agents and other relevant bodies. We hope our efforts will yield a desirable result. Since it’s already a security matter, we cannot say much about the situation now,” said a director in the institution, who craved anonymity.
