Yobe govt. Partners with trans sahara consortium in $2 billion deal to boost beef export
In a strategic move aimed at enhancing livestock development and ensuring food security, the Yobe State government has signed a two billion dollar memorandum of understanding with the Trans Sahara consortium for a five-year project.
The primary goal of this partnership is to facilitate the export of beef in the near future.
Yobe state is renowned for its thriving livestock industry, encompassing a variety of animals from ruminants to cattle.
Notably, Potiskum town boasts one of the largest cattle markets in Africa.

To bolster livestock development and propel beef production, the state government has sealed a groundbreaking two billion dollar pact with Trans Sahara consortium.
Through this collaboration, the project aims to significantly increase the export of beef from the state.
Victor Terrah, the CEO of Trans Sahara consortium, elaborated on the details of the partnership and highlighted the mutual benefits it offers.
Representing Governor Buni, Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, expressed confidence that this initiative would not only enhance cattle production and trading but also drive broader economic growth and food security within the state.
The project seeks to produce thirty thousand cattle monthly, sourced from Potiskum, Nguru, and Damaturu, in order to achieve its objectives of boosting livestock productivity and expanding export opportunities.
