Zubaida Umar: A leader poised to transform Disaster Management

Educational Background:
Zubaida Umar’s educational journey began with primary and secondary schooling in Kaduna State. She pursued higher education at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and also studied international Trade.
Additionally, Umar holds a Master of Science in International Trade from the renowned Robert Gordon University Business School, Scotland.
Experience and Expertise:
With over twenty years of experience in finance, strategy development, and project management, Umar has held various leadership positions at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN). Her tenure at FMBN was characterised by innovation and growth, where she played a key role in implementing reform processes and spearheading high-value projects. Umar’s dedication to excellence and her ability to navigate complex challenges positioned her as a visionary leader in the mortgage banking sector.
Reflecting on her experience at ABU, Umar emphasized the institution’s role in shaping her career trajectory. “ABU is known for its historical antecedents of producing excellent graduates through highly competent and experienced lecturers,” she said. “My interactions with diverse students changed my perception of life.”
Discussing the challenges facing Nigeria’s mortgage banking industry, Umar outlined strategies employed by FMBN to address key issues such as housing affordability and access to long-term funding.
