Army releases detained Delta monarch linked to killings of 17 soldiers
The Nigerian Army has decided to release the Traditional ruler of Ewu Kingdom, Clement Ikolo, who was previously detained in connection with the deaths of 17 soldiers.
Major General Clement Nwachukwu, the army spokesperson, announced on Friday that Ikolo will be handed over to Senator Ede Dafinone of Delta Central, who will act as his surety.
Despite the absence of concrete evidence linking the traditional ruler to the killings, the army emphasised that there is also no proof of his innocence.

Ikolo voluntarily surrendered to the police after being named among eight individuals sought in connection with the incident that occurred in Okuama on March 14th.
Following his surrender to the police, Ikolo has been in the custody of the army for almost a month.
