In Katsina state, Danmusa is amongst several council areas facing the scourge of insecurity where, for more than a decade, hundreds of lives have been lost, with many more abducted for ransom and thousands of domestic animals rustled by the rampaging bandits.
Banditry and the associated incidents of kidnappings for ransome, highway robbery, wanton killings and cattle rustling have defied several remedial efforts since the beginning of the menace about one decade ago in parts of the northwest states of Katsina, neighbouring Zamfara, Sokoto and Kaduna states through to the north central states of Niger, kogi, Benue and the FCT.
