Fake soldier declared wanted by the military apprehended by Police in Lagos

A suspected fake soldier who had been declared wanted by the military was recently arrested by the Police Command in Lagos State.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday.

The arrest took place on Saturday around 3:00 p.m. in the Ijegun area of Lagos.

According to Hundeyin, the suspect was apprehended during a routine visibility patrol by the Ijegun Police Division near Fagbile Estate, Ijegun, in Sherin Oshun.

The patrol team caught the man, who identified himself as a Sergeant Major (other names withheld), wearing full military uniform that was allegedly used for impersonation.

“We immediately sent for the military Guard Commander, guiding the pipeline in Ijeododo, to come and identify the suspect.

“The military confirmed that he was a fake soldier. On interrogation, the suspect confirmed to the crime of impersonation.

“The military confirmed that he has been on its wanted list. The suspect will be charged to court on completion of investigation,” he said.
