FG approves electricity tariff increase for Band A customers

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved the increase of electricity tariff for customers falling under the Band A classification.

Speaking at a news conference in Abuja on Wednesday, NERC’s Vice Chairman, Musliu Oseni, announced that customers in this category will now be paying N225 per kilowatt-hour, as opposed to the previous rate of N66.

Furthermore, it is important to note that Band A customers are those who currently enjoy 20 hours of electricity supply daily.

“We currently have 800 feeders that are categorised as Band A, but it will now be reduced to under 500. This means that 17 percent now qualify as Band A feeders. These feeders only services15 percent of total electricity customers connected to the feeders.
