Gunmen attack Kogi community, kill villagers

A group of gunmen viciously attacked the Agojeju-Odo community within the Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State.
According to Daily Post, the assailants, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the area on Friday, unleashing chaos and devastation in their wake.
Eyewitnesses recount harrowing scenes of indiscriminate gunfire and the torching of homes, as the perpetrators wreaked havoc upon unsuspecting residents. Amidst the chaos, community members scrambled for safety, with many sustaining injuries in the process.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, confirmed the heinous act in a telephone interview.
He disclosed that the state Commissioner of Police, Bethrand Onuoha, swiftly mobilized tactical teams to the afflicted area in a bid to restore order and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The brazen assault has sent shockwaves throughout the region, prompting calls for heightened security measures and vigilance among residents.
“Yes, there was an attack in the village in Omala. The CP has deployed an enforcement team along with other security agencies.”
Aya noted that an investigation is ongoing to ascertain the cause of the attack and to unravel the perpetrators.
