Kaduna Attack: 23 villagers confirmed dead

Bandits carried out a devastating assault on Anguwar Danko village in the Kakangi constituency of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area in Kaduna, resulting in the tragic loss of 23 lives.

According to reports from the area, the attack occurred late Wednesday night when a sizable group of armed bandits descended upon the community, unleashing a barrage of gunfire and abducting numerous residents.

Eyewitnesses recounted the harrowing ordeal, describing how the bandits brazenly roamed the village, which lies approximately 10 kilometers from Dogon Dawa village within the same local government area.

Yahaya Musa Dan Salio, the representative for Kakangi Ward in the State House of Assembly, verified the grim toll, confirming that 23 individuals had lost their lives, while five others sustained injuries.

Some of those abducted managed to escape amid the chaos, seeking refuge in the nearby bush.

Tragically, the violence extended beyond human casualties, as the assailants also rustled cattle from the community during their rampage.

Alhassan Ibrahim Saulawa, the Chief Press Secretary to the Interim Local Government Chairman of Birnin Gwari LGA, corroborated the scale of the tragedy, acknowledging that over 20 lives had been lost in the assault.

Efforts to ascertain the full extent of the abduction remain ongoing, with many individuals still unaccounted for after fleeing into the wilderness to evade the attackers.

In response to the calamity, Interim Chairman Salisu Isah personally visited the stricken community to offer condolences and extend support to the bereaved families and the injured.
