Kaduna Controversy: Reasons for my silence on El-Rufai’s son
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has addressed the accusations made by Bashir El-Rufai, who accused him of allegedly avoiding his responsibilities by frequently being absent from the state and spending most of his time in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
Bashir made this accusation hours after the state governor accused the immediate past governor, Nasir El-Rufai of leaving a huge debt of $587m, N85bn debts and 115 contract liabilities for the state, making it difficult for him to pay salaries.
In addition to targeting his father’s close friend, Governor Sani, Bashir also raised concerns about the governor’s choice of aides, accusing him of appointing incompetent individuals for the sake of political allegiance.
Reacting to this, Sani’s spokesman, Mohammed Shehu, said the governor would not respond to El-Rufai’s son, saying that his principal had stated the obvious on the financial status of the state.

“The task ahead of us is enormous and we won’t trade that for trivialities. His Excellency Senator Uba Sani has categorically stated the true financial status of the state,” Shehu said.
