Kogi: SDP’s Ajaka promises to reclaim allegedly ‘stolen mandate’

Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate in Kogi state’s 2023 governorship election, has reassured his supporters of his determination to reclaim what he termed their “stolen mandate.”

In a statement issued on Friday, Ajaka urged the people of Kogi state to maintain their resilience and not be disheartened.

Expressing gratitude to the electorate, Ajaka stated, “On this warm Friday, I want to take a moment to extend my heartfelt gratitude to every one of you who have tirelessly stood by our cause, no matter the challenges we face. Overcoming oppression and intimidation is never easy, but together, we can find the strength to rise above it and achieve victory.

“I want you to remember that our fight is not just about us; it is about creating a better future for all. It is about standing up for justice, equality, and compassion. The path we have chosen may be filled with obstacles, but let us not forget that history is shaped by the persistence and resilience of those who refuse to surrender.

“In the face of long adversity we’ve faced in Kogi, it is easy to feel discouraged. Doubts may creep in, and fear may try to cloud our vision. But we must never lose sight of our goals and the positive change we hope to create in our beloved State. Remember the passion and conviction that brought us together, and let it fuel your spirit to chart a new direction for Kogi State and her lovely people.”

“Victory is not simply about winning an election or achieving a specific political goal. It is about staying true to our values and continuing to fight for what is right, no matter the circumstances. Our resilience will be our greatest weapon against oppression, intimidation, and any other forces that try to bring us down.”

Ajaka is currently contesting the election of Governor Usman Ododo of the All Progressive Congress (APC) at the governorship election petition tribunal, as well as his non-qualification to even contest the primary election of the party.
