Nigeria Immigration Service places ‘wanted’ Yahaya Bello on watchlist

The Nigeria Immigration Service has issued a watchlist alert for Yahaya Bello, a former governor of Kogi State, following an earlier declaration of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that he is wanted.

The directive, emanating from the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service, cited concerns related to conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering.

According to the communication addressed to the Department of State Security Services, the Inspector-General of Nigeria Police Force, the National Intelligence Agency, as well as all Zonal Coordinators and Control Posts, Bello Yahaya has been placed on a watchlist due to ongoing legal proceedings against him.

The Federal High Court in Abuja is handling the case against Yahaya, as detailed in letter reference CR:3000/EFCC/LS/EGCS.1/TE1/279 dated April 18, 2024.

 

 

The charges against him include conspiracy, breach of trust, and money laundering.

Authorities have emphasized that if Bello is encountered at any entry or exit point, immediate arrest and referral to the Director of Investigation is necessary.
