Patients resort to carrying jerry cans as water scarcity hits Borno hospital
The biggest General Hospital owned by the Borno State Government, the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital, is gradually becoming a shadow of itself due to lack of maintenance, care, and absence of basic amenities like water.
The predicament at the hospital has become a source of concern to the public and the management.
Water, an essential commodity which ought to be the top priority in the daily endeavours of human beings is very scarced in the health institution.
According to reports, the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital has been battling water scracity for a long time.
As the water scarcity becomes very worrisome, patients on admission at the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital resorted to carrying water in jerry cans to the hospital.

This newspaper gathered that a borehole which supplies water to the male and female paediatric wards of the hospital has completely broken down.
It was equally gathered that the borehole supplying the entire hospital has not been functioning for the past one week and staff have been complaining but authorities incharge ignored all pleas.
The scenerio has crippled other health services in the the hopital and its environs.
Some of the patients on admission go outside at night to purchase water from vendors.
Seeing it as a booming business, water vendors now occupy the front gate of the hospital and water business becomes the order of the day at the post office roundabout Maiduguri, where the hospital is situated there.
