Police confirm death of 14-year-old girl in hotel room with lover
The Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the tragic death of a 14-year-old girl, Shallon Ebitare, in the presence of her 17-year-old lover, Lucky Okubo, in a hotel room in Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the minor and her boyfriend checked into a hotel room, where the girl suddenly collapsed and died in the bathroom.
Upon discovery, Shallon Ebitare was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Yenagoa for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead shortly after.
The couple had reportedly been in a relationship for several months prior to the unfortunate incident.
Following the girl’s death, the Bayelsa State Police Command swiftly apprehended the boyfriend, Lucky Okubo, on suspicion of murder.

In an official statement, ASP Musa Muhammed, spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, announced that the Commissioner of Police had ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death.
“The suspect claimed that the deceased fell and sustained injuries while in the bathroom, leading to her tragic demise. He further stated that he sought assistance from the hotel manager to transport the girl to FMC Yenagoa, where she was later pronounced dead by a medical doctor”.
Presently, the suspect remains in custody at the SCID Yenagoa, pending further investigation into the cause of Shallon Ebitare’s death.
