Police detectives swiftly apprehended Ibrahim, who confessed to the crime following preliminary investigations at Bulumkutu police station. Subsequently, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Maiduguri, and has since been charged for prosecution.
An update from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) indicates that Ibrahim is currently facing prosecution in the Federal High Court in Maiduguri.
Meanwhile, Hauwa is reported to be recovering well from her ordeal, although she has endured both physical and psychological trauma.
