Sallah season sees drop in prices of food items, animals in Kano

As Eid-el Fitr is fast approaching, the prices of essential food items and livestock have finally started to decrease, making them very much affordable to people from all walks of life after a prolonged period of high prices.

A market survey carried out at various local markets to gauge the current pricing situation had discovered that the cost of various food items is steadily declining in both markets and retail stores across many communities, indicating that in the near future, these items will become even more affordable for consumers.

At Bichi market, the price of food items like local rice, maize, Sorghum, millet, beans and other related consumables has dropped and made available to buyers, while the price of animals at Badume market also surprisingly dropped which resulted in the bulk purchase for Sallah celebrations.

Malam Amadu Ibrahim, a small ruminants animals vendor stated that ” the price of animals dropped unlike at previous time when a small goat is sold at higher cost than now which is a testimony that life will become more simple , I am happy to see that everybody can afford to celebrate easily “. He added.

Other animals like hens, cock, turkey, geese, guinea fowl, goats hare and rams are also affordable according to the demands, while everybody is seen busy trying to acquire items to celebrate as usual.
