Court adjourns hearing for CGC Adeniyi’s impersonator to July 3, 2024, as justice awaits

A significant development unfolded today at the Federal High Court in the Central Business District of Abuja, as Ibrahim Shu’aibu, a 50-year-old man accused of impersonating the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, faced a hearing for his alleged fraudulent activities.

Following his apprehension by the Nigeria Customs Service’s Police Unit on January 29, 2024, for engaging in various fraudulent schemes, including soliciting payments from unsuspecting individuals in exchange for job appointment letters, Shu’aibu found himself in the spotlight of legal proceedings.

Presenting the case before the court, the lead Counsel representing the Nigeria Customs Service, Abidemi Adewumi-Aluko, outlined a nine-count charge against the defendant, who maintained his plea of not guilty.

Presiding over the proceedings, Justice Binta Nyako adjourned the hearing to Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

Additionally, she ordered that the accused be remanded in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service until the bail requirements are met.
