EFCC denies list of ex-governors under corruption investigation

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has dismissed a circulating report alleging the release of a list of ex-governors under investigation for corruption.

In a statement by Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s Head of Media & Publicity, the commission clarified that it neither issued such a list nor engaged in discussions regarding investigations of ex-governors with any media outlet.

The report titled “EFCC Releases Full List of 58 Ex-Governors that Embezzled N2.187 Trillion” was labeled as false and mischievous by the EFCC.

According to the statement, the alleged list is considered a disingenuous fabrication designed to serve motives known only to its creators.

The public has been urged to disregard the report as false and misleading. Furthermore, the media has been advised to verify facts directly with the EFCC to prevent the dissemination of inaccurate information that could mislead the public.
