Kogi State Government announces successful rescue of abducted CUSTECH students
Some of the abducted students from Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, Okene, in Kogi State have been successfully rescued. “This confirmation came from the Kogi State government, which commended the efforts of local hunters and security agents in ensuring the safe return of the students”.
According to Kingsley Fanwo, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communication, the students were rescued by a collaborative effort involving local hunters and security agents. “While the exact number of rescued students was not disclosed by Fanwo, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Williams Aya, confirmed that 14 students were among those rescued”.
Fanwo elaborated that the rescue operation unfolded amidst a fierce shootout between the local vigilante men, security agents, and the kidnappers. Despite sustaining injuries, the students managed to escape from their captors and find refuge in nearby areas.
In the aftermath of the operation, the rescued students, along with other kidnapped victims, received immediate medical attention at a nearby medical facility. Currently, security forces are conducting extensive searches in the surrounding forests to ensure the safe return of all remaining students still held in captivity.
