FG partners Int’l. agencies over displacement challenges in N’East

The federal government has promoted a collaborative partnership with development partners in managing internal displacements in Nigeria.
This was highlighted at the launch of the State Action Plan on Sustainable Solutions to Internal Displacement in three Northern States of Yobe, Borno and Adamawa.
Vice President, Kashim Shettima, at the event, pledged the federal government’s assistance to ensure the success of the action plan and its benefits to the displaced communities in the participating states.
He commended the United Nations and its agencies and the international community for their dedication to addressing one of Nigeria’s most difficult challenges.

Mr Robert Piper, the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General on Sustainable Solutions, stressed the significance of the action plan and called on the international community to support Nigeria and its states in the successful execution of the ambitious plan.
“This action plan is a crucial move towards providing lasting solutions to the issues of displacement.
“It requires a united effort and continuous backing from all sectors,” he said.
The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Richard Montgomery, speaking on behalf of the North-East Ambassadors Group, reiterated the UK’s dedication to aiding Nigeria in dealing with the complex matters of prolonged displacement.
In a statement by his Media Aide, Mamman Mohammed, the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni emphasized the importance of collaboration to aid the resettlement, reconstruction, and recovery efforts of the state government.
He appealed to both local and international donors to support the Yobe government in executing the action plan to address crucial gaps and speed up development in the state.
“We are committed to addressing the challenges of prolonged displacement with a view towards sustainable recovery and development.
“We must collaborate to create enduring solutions that not only tackle the immediate issues but also foster long-term socio-economic progress,” Buni stated.
The State Action Plan on Sustainable Solutions aims to tackle immediate humanitarian needs while concentrating on the medium and long-term socio-economic recovery and development of displaced communities.
