Zulum approves N200m grant, housing estate for FCE Gwoza

The establishment of the Federal College of Education in Gwoza is set to receive a significant boost as Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum has approved a N200 million grant and a housing estate for teachers as part of the college’s take-off package.

During a recent inspection visit to the temporary site of the college, Governor Zulum expressed his approval for the progress made in rehabilitating the site, which was allocated for the college’s establishment back in July 2023.

Impressed by the quality of work done so far, Governor Zulum urged the contractors to expedite the completion of the project to ensure a smooth take-off for the college.

The housing estate, which includes 12 units of 2-bedroom houses, has been built to accommodate teachers as the college prepares for its first intake of students later this year.

In a similar show of support, Governor Zulum has also allocated a N100 million grant and a temporary site for the commencement of academic activities at the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno.

Governor Zulum has been known to extend support to federal government institutions that serve the people of Borno State, reaffirming his commitment to improving access to quality education in the region.

During his visit to Gwoza, Governor Zulum paid homage to the emir, Alhaji Umar Shehu Idrissa Timta, and discussed plans for the resettlement of communities affected by the insurgency, including Bita, Hambagda, Wala, Yamteki, Modube, Ashigashiya, and Guduf.

Zulum expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his approval of the establishment of the college in Gwoza Local Government Area, an area greatly impacted by Boko Haram insurgents.
