School owner on the run with students’ exam fees from WAEC, NECO

A shocking incident has emerged from Ibadan, where Mr. Sunday Adeyemi, a school owner, is accused of disappearing with the money intended for the students’ exam fees.

The disappearance of Adeyemi has plunged the educational prospects of the affected students into uncertainty. The news of Adeyemi’s act of absconding was brought to light by Adejoke Lasisi, the founder of Planet 3R, who took to Facebook to share the distressing story.

Many parents had gone to great lengths, even resorting to taking loans, to ensure that their children could sit for crucial exams such as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examination Council (NECO).

However, their hopes were shattered upon discovering that the school had failed to register their children for the exams despite receiving the fees.

Lasisi’s post was not only fueled by outrage but also by personal experience, as her younger brother had previously been a victim of a similar situation.

Thankfully, her family was able to mobilise support and funds to re-register him for the exams. The actions of the School Owner were heavily criticised as a breach of trust, particularly considering his established reputation running “The Lord’s Favour” school for over two decades.

It has been uncovered that Adeyemi had purportedly liquidated his assets, including his home and the school itself, to fund his departure abroad, leaving the affected students and their families in a state of shock and financial hardship.

Lasisi remarked that while pursuing opportunities abroad is a legitimate endeavor, it should not come at the expense of others, especially involving the betrayal of trust and jeopardising the futures of innocent students.
