Bandits in Adamawa abduct Catholic priest

Gunmen have kidnapped a priest serving with the Yola Catholic Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Oliver Buba in Adamawa State.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, in the priest’s rectory at St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Bare, in Numan Local Government of Adamawa State.

The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza, who confirmed the incident in a statement, called on all Christian faithful and men and women of goodwill to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release of the priest.

“We commit our brother, Very Rev. Fr. Oliver Buba, to the powerful intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Priests, for his speedy release from the hands of his abductors,” the statement read.
