COWA President provides aid to Customs widows, CGC commends efforts (Pictures)
The President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, extended support to widows and families of fallen customs officers in Abuja on May 1, 2024.
Mrs. Adeniyi’s initiative aimed to bring relief and assistance to the widows, elevating their standard of living and honoring the sacrifices made by their spouses in serving the nation.
In her address, Mrs. Adeniyi emphasized the significant contributions of the late officers, recognizing their dedication, courage, and impact in combating smuggling and upholding the nation’s laws.

She underscored that COWA’s benevolent activities align with its core mandate of supporting the less privileged within the Customs community and beyond.
Mrs. Adeniyi also expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and his team for their continuous support in achieving COWA’s objectives.
Comptroller-General Bashir Adeniyi, serving as the Special Guest of Honour, congratulated the participants on Workers’ Day and reaffirmed his commitment, pledging to advocate for improved welfare for the families of departed officers.
Addressing the gathering, he assured, “We will strongly advocate for enhanced support to the families of our fallen heroes, and I pledge this commitment today.”
The event, held at the COWA National Secretariat in Gwarimpa, saw the participation of over 50 individuals from various customs barracks across the Federal Capital Territory.
In response, beneficiaries Asabe Machu and Mrs. Phina conveyed their heartfelt appreciation to the COWA National President for her thoughtful gesture.
