Enoh applauds Amusan on her olympic success

Senator John Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development, has expressed his belief in Tobi Amusan’s ability to break the Olympics streak and clinch a gold medal in the women’s 100m event at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, according to a report by PUNCH Sports Extra.

Amusan recently set the pace in the women’s 100m hurdles with a stellar performance in Kingston, achieving a remarkable time of 12.40s (0.9) at the Jamaican Athletics Invitational.

This impressive feat comes just over two months before the upcoming Games scheduled from July 26 to August 11.

During the race, Amusan trailed behind reigning world champion Danielle Williams and America’s Nia Ali before surging ahead in the final stretch to secure victory, outpacing the previous best time of 12.42s set by Tonea Marshall of the USA on April 20.

Enthused by the 27-year-old’s exceptional form this season, Minister Enoh showered praise on the African Games champion.

In a statement on X, Enoh commended Amusan for her outstanding win, defeating world champion Danielle Williams who finished second, and Christina Clemons in third place with a time of 12.54s.

Enoh’s message to Amusan was one of encouragement and pride, highlighting the impact of her achievements on Nigeria’s sporting reputation.

With Paris Olympics on the horizon, Enoh expressed confidence in Amusan’s potential to break barriers and bring glory to the nation.

Despite encountering setbacks in her previous Olympic appearances at Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, where she fell short of the podium with a fourth-place finish, Amusan’s subsequent successes include claiming the world title, setting a world record, and securing two Diamond League titles among other accolades.

Her journey showcases resilience and determination, setting the stage for a potential breakthrough at the upcoming Olympics.
