Farmers in Niger State decry high rate of attacks during rainy season

The residents of Kuchi in Munya LGA of Niger State have have lamented the prolonged activities of bandits in their villages.
The residents revealed that criminals have not left their community four days after they launched a deadly attack.
City & Crime previously reported how criminals, numbering about 300, invaded Kuchi and nearby communities on Friday, killing six vigilantes and four other individuals.
A resident who expressed frustration that he, his family, and many other displaced individuals were now in Sarkin-Pawa, headquarters of Munya LGA, shared that about 160 people were taken during the attack.
He said, “The criminals are still in our communities stealing cattle. We are hungry; we don’t have food. We have been crying day and night.
“While adults can endure hunger, children cannot. We require assistance,” he said.

The Chairman of Munya LGA, Aminu Najume, also informed Tsalle Daya, a Hausa program on Prestige FM Radio, that the criminals rode on approximately 150 motorcycles with each one accommodating three individuals during the attack.
He stated, “On the day of the attack, even birds in Kuchi would have known that gunmen assaulted the community with the sound of gunfire we heard.
“Those individuals were not criminals; they are ISWAP and Boko Haram. We need help to allow my people to plant crops. It is the rainy season,” he appealed.
