Governor Buni, former speaker, Dogara, others, mourn Mai Tikau

Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, Yobe State governor mourns the late Emir of Tikau, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Grema, who passed away on Friday, 10th, May, 2024.

The governor in the company of the Speaker Yobe state House of Assembly, Hon. Ciroma Buba Mashio, Senator representating Zone B, Mohammed Ibrahim Bomoi, emirs and hundreds of others were in attendance for the funeral Prayer of the late Emir of Tikau, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar Ibn Grema, at the Emir’s palace, Sabon Garin Nangere.

The demise of the first class citizen is a great loss to the Emirate, the state and the country at large. The governor further described the late Emir as a person “whose wealth of wisdom and experience would be greatly missed.”

The governor described the late Emir of Tikau, as a peace lover dedicated to the wellbeing of his people.

“He was a peace loving leader, fair and just to all, objective, and committed to the interest of his people and the development of Tikau Emirate,” the governor stated.

The governor, however prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased soul eternal rest in Aljannatu firdaus and grant his family, and the people of the emirate the strength to bear the loss.

He extended his condolences, that of the government, and the people of the state to his family and the Emirate.

Rt Hon Yakubu Dogara,CFR, the Jarman of Tikau, also expressed his shock to the news of the passing of the Emir. He condoled with the Emirate, the family of the deceased and people of Yobe state.

In his words, he said, “I received with shock, the news of the demise of His Royal Highness, Mai Tikau, Alhaji Muhammadu Abubakar Grema Ibn Shuwa, which occurred on Friday, May 10, 2024.”

“His death is a huge loss not just to Yobe State but the country at large. He was a patriot, a father to all, a man of peace, renowned educationist, and an advocate for sustainable development through his advocacy for tree planting to curb dessertification.”

“He was a man who showed love to all, irrespective of regional or political affiliation. It was under his leadership that people from different parts of the country, including my humble self, were recognised and conferred with prestigious traditional titles, which helped to foster national unity and social cohesion.”

“I condole with his immediate family, members of the Emirate Council, government, and people of Yobe State over this irreparable loss.”

National Assembly members who were in attendance for the funeral prayer, included, Hon. Lawan Shettima Ali, Hon. Tijjani Zanna Zakariya, the APC State Chairman, and Alhaji Muhammad Gadaka.

Other attendees were, commissioners, members of the business community, and people from within and outside the state.

All attendees prayed to Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
