New minimum wage adjustments come into play
The Minister of State for Labour, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, has confirmed that the new minimum wage will officially come into effect on May 1, 2024, as scheduled.
Assuring workers of a smooth transition, Onyejeocha reassured them that they will not face any financial setbacks despite the ongoing discussions by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage.

Speaking at the May Day celebrations held at the Eagel Square in Abuja, the Minister acknowledged that the finalized national minimum wage document is not yet available but emphasised that thorough consultations are ongoing to expedite the process.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, had proposed a living wage of N615,000 for workers, showcasing the continued advocacy for fair compensation for workers in the nation.
