No student died in Aliko Dangote University hostel – officials confirm
The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH), located in Wudil, Kano State, has dispelled rumors of a student’s demise within the university’s student hall of residence.
In a statement issued by the university’s Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Abdulkadir Dambazau, the public was urged to disregard reports suggesting the death of Yahaya Aisha Olabisi in the hall of residence.
According to Prof. Dambazau, the university received news on April 23, 2024, regarding the unfortunate passing of Yahaya Aisha Olabisi, described as a diligent and bright student of ADUSTECH, Wudil.
Clarifying the circumstances surrounding Olabisi’s demise, Prof. Dambazau revealed that she had spent her last evening engrossed in academic endeavors, diligently preparing for forthcoming examinations.
On the morning following her study session, after a shared breakfast with her roommate and a conversation with her father, Olabisi expressed her intention to rest briefly before resuming her studies.
However, concerns arose later that afternoon when she failed to respond to attempts to reach her. Subsequent investigations revealed that Olabisi had passed away peacefully in her sleep at her off-campus residence.

In response to the incident, the university promptly took measures to address the situation. Olabisi was swiftly transported to the university clinic, where medical professionals confirmed her passing.
Her remains were then transferred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) for postmortem analysis to determine the cause of her sudden demise.
“The university officials emphasized the importance of refraining from spreading or engaging with misinformation that may tarnish the institution’s reputation and cause undue panic. The statement concluded with an appeal for caution and adherence to accurate information dissemination”.
