Soldiers deployed to back dethroned Emir Aminu Ado Bayero after arrest order
A team of soldiers has arrived at the mini-palace of deposed Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, in Nassarawa, following an order for his immediate arrest by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
The Governor had given the sacked Emirs 48 hours to vacate their palaces and hand over, but Ado Bayero returned to Kano on Saturday, defying the order.
The soldiers’ deployment comes after Ado Bayero’s return to the ancient city, where he was welcomed by supporters. He observed dawn prayers at the airport and later moved to the mini-palace in Nassarawa.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, accused Ado Bayero of attempting to forcefully return to the palace, creating tension in the state.

The Deputy Governor of Kano, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, alleged that “the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, facilitated Ado Bayero’s return, providing two jets to bring him to Kano”.
The situation remains unclear, with multiple factions vying for control of the Kano Emirate.
