Swiatek seeks historic 4th French open title as rivalry with Sabalenka heats up
World number one Iga Swiatek is confident ahead of the French Open, where she could become only the fourth woman to win four Roland Garros singles titles in the Open era.
Swiatek, who has dominated on clay this season, faces French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean in the first round and is a strong favorite to lift her fourth French Open title.
Swiatek, 22, is aiming to join Chris Evert, Steffi Graf, and Justine Henin in lifting the Coupe Suzanne-Lenglen four times in the Open era.
Her biggest obstacle is Aryna Sabalenka, who has reached at least the semi-finals in each of the past six Grand Slam events.
Swiatek and Sabalenka have a thrilling rivalry, with Swiatek leading 10-3 in their head-to-head matches. Sabalenka has said that Swiatek motivates her to improve, and she hopes to face her again in Paris.
