Troops rescue CUSTECH students, others in fierce fire fight

In a recent official statement by the Nigerian Army has reported significant victories in the fight against terrorism, with troops successfully rescuing multiple kidnap victims and even convincing a notorious militant to surrender.

The operations spanned various regions in the country and were detailed on the Nigerian Army’s X (former Twitter) handle.

In the North Central region, a joint effort between troops, security agencies, and local vigilantes led to the rescue of abducted students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology in Osara, Kogi State.

A fierce fire fight broke out with the kidnappers’ scouts in the Osara Forests area, resulting in the safe rescue of 9 students thanks to the superior firepower of the troops.

Moving to the North West in Zamfara State, troops swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the abduction of two locals by violent extremists in Danzara Village. A pursuit ensued, forcing the kidnappers to abandon their hostages unharmed.

Meanwhile, in Katsina State, troops engaged in a gun battle with terrorists in the Solar General Area of Batsari Local Government, rescuing 17 kidnapped victims who were later returned to safety.

In a notable incident in Borno State, a notorious Boko Haram member identified as Alhaji Wosai in Garno Village, Dikwa Local Government Area, voluntarily surrendered to the troops, relinquishing his AK-47 rifle and ammunition.

The Nigerian Army’s relentless efforts to combat terrorism and ensure the safety of citizens were emphasised in the statement. Troops’ unwavering dedication to addressing the threats posed by terrorists and kidnappers highlights their commitment to restoring peace and stability in the affected regions.
