Two years after, police arrest mastermind of Abuja-Kaduna train attack

The Nigeria Police Force said it has arrested one Ibrahim Abdullahi, aka Mandi, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the March 2022 Abuja-Kaduna train attack.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed this during a press briefing in Kaduna State.

He stated that 48 AK-47 rifles were recovered during the arrest while investigations are ongoing to identify his sponsor and supplier of the weapons.

It could be recalled that in March 2022, terrorists attacked the Abuja-Kaduna-bound train having about 970 passengers on-board.

The terrorists derailed the train after they planted Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) beneath one of the coaches.

The coach went off a few minutes into the trip as the assailants killed many passengers and kidnapped over 100 others.

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Fidet Okhiria, confirmed the incident.
