WAFU U-17: Eaglets coach aims for victory against Togo
Coach Manu Garba has expressed his determination for Nigeria’s U17 boys to secure a win in their upcoming match against Togo on Wednesday in Accra.
Despite a draw being sufficient for the five-time world champions to advance to the semi-finals, Coach Garba emphasised the team’s commitment to seeking victory.
“We are not settling for draws. The draw in our first match against Burkina Faso was disappointing. We missed opportunities to score, especially towards the end, but we must move forward with a winning mindset. Our focus remains on achieving a win,” Coach Garba stated.
Recognising the Togolese team’s resilience, Coach Garba highlighted the importance of not underestimating their opponents. “Although Togo faced defeats in their initial matches, they displayed strength by scoring two goals against Niger Republic. We must not underestimate them or take them lightly,” he emphasised.

With a potential victory against Togo, the Golden Eaglets have the opportunity to secure the top position in their group. Should Burkina Faso fail to win against Niger Republic in simultaneous matches, Nigeria will maintain their lead in the group standings.
A win against Togo would also allow the Eaglets to avoid facing Ghana’s in-form Black Starlets in the semi-finals, a prospect Coach Garba and the team are keen to achieve.
