The Yobe Police Command has apprehended a 22-year-old woman, Zainab Isa, for allegedly stabbing her 25-year-old husband, Ibrahim Yahaya.

The Yobe State Commissioner of Police, Garba Ahmed, confirmed the unfortunate incident in a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim.

The statement said the incident took place on June 25, 2024, in Damaturu.

Zainab was taken to the state CID for a thorough investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.

She admitted to the crime, claiming it was an act of self-defense during a physical altercation initiated by her husband.

She highlighted the story of violence in their marriage, even after the birth of their children, due to financial and food-related disputes.

CP Ahmed expressed sorrow over the tragic incident between the couple which led to the untimely death of a promising young man due to an abusive marital relationship.

According to the statement, a neighbour reported the fight between Ibrahim Yahaya and Zainab Isa at their residence in Abbari Ward, Damaturu.

The argument turned violent, resulting in Zainab using a knife to fatally wound her spouse in the chest before the arrival of the police.
