Village head, councillor suspended in Gombe over alleged theft of transformer

The Gombe State Government has announced the suspension of the village head of Garin Majidadi in Akko Local Government Area, Mohammed Majidadi, over allegations of theft. Alongside him, the Councillor representing Kumo East Ward, Abdullahi M. Panda, has also been suspended.

In a statement released on Friday, Secretary to the State Government Ibrahim Njodi stated that Governor Inuwa Yahaya approved the immediate suspension of both officials.

The decision follows their recent parade by the Gombe State police command and ongoing trial over accusations of conspiring in the theft and subsequent sale of a community electricity transformer in Garin Majidadi.

“The suspensions come in the wake of recent developments involving the two officials, who were paraded by the Gombe State police command, and currently facing trial over allegations of conspiracy in the theft and subsequent sale of a community electricity transformer at Garin Majidadi,” the statement read.

Governor Yahaya emphasized that the suspension is a preventive measure to avoid any interference in the legal proceedings.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and expressed confidence that justice will be served.

The governor assured that the law would take its course against Majidadi and Panda, as well as any other individuals found complicit in the theft.
