Eedris urges Adeboye to deploy 1 million protesters against hunger as he did against Jonathan
A popular Nigerian singer, Eedris Abdulkarim, has come hard on Pastor Enoch Adeboye for describing hunger and other ills under Tinubu’s government as requiring spiritual solution.
Abdulkarim challenged Pastor Adeboye to deploy his 1 million disciples to protest hunger in Nigeria just as he once threatened to stage one million match during President Goodluck Jonathan over hardship.
Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has recently said Nigeria’s problems require spiritual solutions.
The singer, in a newly released song titled “Emilokan”, described Adeboye’s remarks that the current Nigeria’s woes require spiritual solution without coming hard on Tinubu’s government as hypocrisy.
“During Goodluck Jonathan, your voice was so loud you even vowed to stage a 1 million march. Hunger and hardship under this government. You say Nigeria has a spiritual problem.
“Baba, we need your 1 million disciples to protest against President’s Tinubu’s government just the way you protested against President Jonathan.
“This is a very big hypocrisy; this is the time for you to speak the truth to power because hunger wants to kill Nigerians,” said Eedris in the song.
The hip hop and Afrobeat singer also claimed in the song that Emi Lokan [It’s my turn], a popular slogan in Tinubu’s presidential campaign has now turned to Ebi Lokan [It’s hunger’s turn] as Nigerians are suffering from hunger across the divides.
“Emi lokan don turn ebi lokan Yorubas are screaming “ebi panwao ooo”, he said.
It would be recalled that Abdulkareem sang the popular Nigeria Jaga-Jaga song during President Obasanjo’s administration to explain the worsening socio-economic situation in Nigeria.
However, in the Emilokan, the singer said Nigeria under Tinubu is beyond Jaga-Jaga.
The song also supported organized labour’s demand for the new minimum wage.
Abdulkareem said senators and house of Representative members should be paid N65,000, so “everybody would enjoy the suffering and smiling.”
He further decried that kidnapping has become a profitable business as he identified other challenges disturbing peace and stability of Nigeria.
“Kidnapping is a lucrative business in Nigeria. Imagine if your grandchildren were kidnapped by now, your soldiers would have scattered Nigeria. How can a common man get money for ransom when they kidnap his wife and his children? After everything, they will kill them.
“See as naira dey fall against the dollar. Millions don’t turn to nothing, and you say make we sacrifice for Nigeria.
“7 billion to renovate your residence. 15 billion for your traveling allowance. That’s not for you and your only vice president. 40 billion for Aso Rock maintenance. 5 billion for food and refreshment. Hundreds of millions for dogs and animals,” the song said.
