EFCC raids nightclubs, arrests groom-to-be during bachelor’s eve
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) allegedly raided two major nightclubs in Akure, the Ondo State capital, arresting over 50 customers during a bachelor’s eve party. The EFCC operatives targeted lounges and event centres located in the Alagbaka area of Akure early Saturday morning.
Among those apprehended was a groom-to-be who was celebrating his bachelor’s eve with friends at one of the clubs.
The EFCC personnel stormed the locations in multiple vehicles around 1:00 am, reportedly firing shots into the air.
Witnesses reported that the operatives confiscated numerous vehicles, laptops, sophisticated phones, and other items. Additionally, CCTV cameras at the scenes were allegedly removed during the operations.
“They were entering the nightclubs and lounges, using tear gas on people, beating them up, and arresting them,” one of the victims stated.

“They didn’t care who we were; even two soldiers were injured as they shot tear gas canisters inside one of the clubs,” the victim lamented.
“They also arrested a groom and his friends who were there for his bachelor’s eve. It’s so sad as they profiled everyone as Internet fraudsters,” another victim, who requested anonymity, reported.
