Gov. Mutfwang lifts curfew on Mangu after 5 months of violent attacks

Story from Usman UMAR

Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has lifted the curfew imposed on the Mangu Local Government Area following violent attacks on communities after five months of the stay-at-home order.

Governor Mutfwang made the decision to lift the curfew after consulting with the state security council and determining that the affected communities have returned to normalcy.

The lifting of the curfew is intended to allow residents in the communities to resume agricultural and economic activities.

Mutfwang also called on community leaders from different faiths and ethnicities to continue engaging in dialogue, fostering trust, promoting tolerance, and enhancing understanding among the people.

Residents were encouraged to prioritise peace, unity, and always be their brother’s keepers to promote peaceful coexistence in their communities.

The Governor expressed gratitude to security agencies for their sacrifices and efforts in addressing the issues and urged them to continue monitoring and maintaining law and order across the seventeen local government areas of the state.
