Govs. Buni, Zulum, Fintiri visit Pakistan on study tour of disaster management (Photos)
Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, along with his counterparts from Borno and Adamawa, Professor Babagana Zulum and Umaru Fintiri, have embarked on a study tour to Pakistan to gain insights into disaster management strategies post-insurgency.
Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Buni’s Director-General for Press and Media Affairs, shared this information with reporters in Damaturu.
The trip was arranged by the Multi-Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP) under the World Bank’s jurisdiction and overseen byt he North East Recovery and Stability Programme (NERSP) Programs Management and Coordination (PMC) CELL of the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
Mohammed explained that the objective of the tour is to enhance the governors’ knowledge of international best practices in crisis management, disaster resistance, and urban development.
The visit is aimed at comprehending effective approaches and solutions applicable to the mandates of MCRP AF and NEDC/BAY, as well as fortifying institutional capabilities for recovery, stabilization, and planning.
It also intends to advance infrastructure, services, and social unity, refine planning for post-NEDC phases, and empower government bodies to create and execute sustainable projects.
The Director-General mentioned that the delegation has already visited the Punjab Municipal Development Fund Corporation (PMDFC, LGCD) and the Punjab Planning and Development Board (PnD Board).

The governors are scheduled to explore the Punjab Disaster Management Authority, PMDFC Municipal service schemes, Islamabad Disaster Risk Management Portfolio, and the Khyber Project for Rural Investment and Institutional Support.
Additionally, the team will engage in discussions with Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority, UN agencies, and other stakeholders during their visit.
Governor Buni is set to hold meetings with leaders of donor organizations and private sectors to explore opportunities for resource mobilization.
The NERSP PMC Cell, a World Bank-backed program backing recovery and peace-building initiatives in the Northeast states of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe, is hosting this study tour.
