Hisbah in Katsina seals hotel building for lodging underage girls

Story from Usman UMAR

The Hisbah Board in Katsina State has sealed off the New Palace Hotel in the city, citing accusations of corrupting the morals of underage girls.

Aminu Usman (Abu Ammar), the commander-general of the Hisbah, verified closure in Katsina.

The commander-general of the Hisbah stated that the hotel had breached a previous agreement made with hotel owners in Katsina.

Mr Usman stated, “The hotel broke the regulations set by the board by allowing underage girls to be accommodated on the premises.

During a recent inspection, it was discovered that two underage girls were staying in the same room, which goes against the laws of the Hisbah.

“This is the second instance of such a violation occurring at the New Palace Hotel, despite previous warnings from the board and assurances from the hotel’s management to prevent such incidents. At a meeting with hotel managers across the state, it was agreed that no hotel would accept underage guests.

Mr Usman continued, “Because the hotel failed to adhere to the regulations of the board and fulfill the specified conditions, we have made the decision to close it down immediately.

“We are dedicated to implementing reforms and enforcing discipline that is in line with the religious and cultural values of the state, within the confines of the law to ensure lasting peace.”
