Key into Yobe’s developmental agenda – Gov. Buni charges newly sworn in LG chairmen

Story from Sa’adatu MAINA, Damaturu

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has charged the newly sworn in local government chairmen in the state to key into the present administration’s development agenda by providing empowerment opportunities to youth, women and vulnerable persons, as well as improving on internally generated revenue.

Governor Buni made the called shortly after he sworn in the newly elected local government chairmen at the state art and cultural centre Damaturu.

He also urged the elected chairmen to promote transparency and accountability in handling local government finances, assets, and equipment.

“Ensure government properties are always reflected in handing and taking over notes. Maintain Contract Register to facilitate monitoring and evaluation, levels/stages of work, and its corresponding expenditure.

“Improve the provision of basic facilities and services such as security, water supply, sanitation, healthcare delivery, and agriculture, among others. Partner federal and state governments in implementing programmes initiated by the federal, state, or both ” said Buni.

The Governor further stated that the state is sustaining its gains in the security sector.

“On this note, I would like to once again stress my appeal to the entire people of Yobe State to continue to support and cooperate with the government and the security agencies.

He commended the security operatives for maintaining law and order during the election exercise.

“It is gratifying that the good people of our dear state have kept to the tradition of peaceful electioneering that we are known for,” he added.
