NCoS dismisses Controller Haliru Nababa, 2 others for misconduct

The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has dismissed three officers, including a Controller of Corrections, and sanctioned others for various acts of misconduct.

This was announced by the Service Public Relations Officer, Assistant Controller of Corrections (ACC) Abubakar Umar, on Thursday in Abuja.

According to Umar, the service reviewed cases of gross negligence of duty, absence without leave, trafficking in illicit items, and general inefficiency, leading to these disciplinary actions. In addition to the dismissals, three personnel were compulsorily retired, six had their ranks reduced, and thirteen received verbal or plain warnings.

Twenty personnel were discharged and acquitted of various accusations, while one previously suspended officer was reinstated.

These measures align with the Controller General of Corrections, Haliru Nababa’s zero tolerance for staff misconduct, aiming to enhance professionalism and discipline within the service.
