Police Commission announces successful recruitment of 10,000 candidates

The Police Service Commission has announced the approval and release of a list of 10,000 successful candidates for recruitment into the constable and specialist positions within the Nigeria Police Force.
The commission emphasized that it collaborated with various stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, the National Assembly, and the Federal Character Commission, to ensure a fair and just recruitment process.
Additionally, efforts were made to distribute successful candidates evenly across the 774 local government areas in the country.
Spokesperson for the PSC, Ikechukwu Ani, disclosed the news in a statement on Tuesday.
Ani stated, “The Police Service Commission has given the green light for the recruitment of 10,000 candidates into the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.
“This decision was reached after receiving the report of the Police Recruitment Board today, Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Out of the approved candidates, 9,000 will be recruited for General Duty, while the remaining 1,000 will be for the Specialist cadre.
“The recruitment process was carried out in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, the National Assembly, and the Federal Character Commission, with a focus on fair representation across the country’s local government areas.”

Earlier, the commission had set up a Recruitment Board consisting of representatives from various organisations to oversee the recruitment process and report back to the PSC.
Interested Nigerian youths were encouraged to apply online through paid advertisements in national media outlets.
The application period lasted six weeks, from October 15, 2023, to November 26, 2023, in compliance with Federal Character guidelines.
In total, the PSC received 609,886 applications. From this pool, 416,323 applicants who met the advertised requirements were selected for the next phase of the recruitment process, which included physical and document screening.
