Police in Abuja raid kidnappers’ hideout, kill 1, arrest 3 others

Operatives of the Utako Divisional Police headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory have shot dead a suspected kidnapper and successfully arrested three others.
The officers apprehended the criminals during a clearance operation at Chikara, a border community in Kogi and the FCT.
The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, disclosed this to newsmen in Abuja on Saturday evening.
CP Igweh said the clearance operation led by CSP Victor O. Geoffrey stormed the identified kidnappers’ hideout at Chikara forest and engaged them in gun battle.

The gallant security operatives were able to neutralise one of the criminals and subsequently arrested three others.
He identified the suspected kidnappers as Mahammadu Isa, a resident of Dantata village in Abuja; Likita Idris, a native of Kogi State and Isiyaku Muhammadu, also a native of Kogi State.
He said, “The bandits at the kidnappers” camp were overwhelmed by the fire power of the police operatives resulting in the death of one of the criminals, Abdulsallam Abdulkadir, and arrest of these three.”
According to the Police Commissioner, the three arrested suspected kidnappers have confessed to being involved in a series of kidnapping incidents and other heinous crimes in FCT and its environs.
Recovered from the suspected kidnapers according to the CP were some exhibits which include an English pump-action gun, a locally fabricated pistol, two live cartridges, cutlasses, knives, and some items believed to be charms.
The CP said investigation is still ongoing and reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the residents of the nation’s capital.
