Police nab 2 men for stealing vehicle during Juma’at prayer

Operatives of the Niger State Police Command have apprehended two individuals for conniving and stealing a Toyota Corolla car.

The disclosure was made by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

The event happened within the vicinity of the Central Mosque in Abuja during the time of Juma’at prayer.

According to the Public Relations Officer, the culprits were caught while attempting to sell the stolen vehicle for N6.5 million in Minna.

Police operatives attached to the SCID in Minna identified the suspects as Gwaza Bulus, aged 41 from Zango-Kataf in Kaduna State, and Yahaya Amodu, aged 45 from Kwakuti in Niger State.

The assailants were nabbed on 14th June 2024 around 6:40 p.m.

The suspects were apprehended in the Sauka-Kahuta region of Minna with a white Toyota Corolla bearing registration number ABC 72 NF that is suspected to be stolen.

During questioning, the mastermind identified as Bulus narrated that he crossed paths with an individual named Daniel in Area 3, Abuja, and discovered they were both natives of Kaduna.

They got acquainted, and Daniel introduced Bulus to Abdul, who mentioned having a vehicle they could sell.

Abdul furnished an imitation key to Bulus on May 31, instructing him that the vehicle would be left unattended at the Central Mosque area of Abuja during Juma’at Prayer, with a detailed description about its location.

Bulus admitted to taking the vehicle and moving it to Kwakuti to meet Yahaya, whom he connected with on social media as a car dealer.

They agreed to transport the vehicle to Minna for swift disposal when the sale did not materialize quickly.

The duo was seized during the transaction, attempting to sell the vehicle without proper documentation and negotiating a sale price of six million, five hundred thousand naira in Minna.

The two suspects are currently undergoing interrogation at the SCID in Minna, and efforts are underway to track down the individual referenced as Abdul.

The case will be transferred to the FCT Command for further scrutiny and legal action.
