Rehabilitated Boko Haram members in Yobe participating in security operations

The Yobe State Government has stated that reformed Boko Haram militants are actively assisting in counterinsurgency efforts in the state.

This is according to reports by Brig. Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (retd.), Special Security Advisor to Governor Mai Mala

Buni, shared during a press conference in Damaturu.

Addressing public concerns about former militants participating in security operations, Abdulsalam emphasized the government’s commitment to bringing peace and ending the insurgency.

Known as the “Hybrid Force,” these ex-militants play a vital role in supporting security agencies by providing intelligence on Boko Haram and ISWAP activities.

They gather information from sources still within the militant groups and identify individuals who collaborate with or supply resources to terrorists.

This intelligence has been crucial in recent operations in Damaturu, Goniri, and Buni Yadi.

In the town of Geidam, the Hybrid Force has been instrumental in preventing terrorist infiltration.

Abdulsalam disclosed that they have identified and assisted in the arrest of twelve individuals linked to Boko Haram’s supply chain.

These arrests underscore the continual threat posed by local collaborators who provide necessary resources like food, fuel, and medicine to militants.

Abdulsalam called on residents of Geidam to support security forces by cooperating to dismantle terrorist networks and disrupt supply routes.

He emphasized the significance of cutting off these supply lines to weaken Boko Haram’s operations and bring stability back to the region.
