Tinubu assures Nigerians of great progress in fighting insecurity
President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stated that the actions of security forces in combating insecurity in the North-West are producing results, and have disrupted and dismantled criminal networks.
Tinubu made these remarks at the North-West Peace and Security Summit organized by the North-West Governors’ Forum in Katsina, the capital of Katsina State on Monday.
Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu reassured Nigerians that the progress achieved so far is just the beginning as the government is intensifying efforts to create a safer environment for all citizens.
Our military forces, through various operations such as Operation Hadin Kai and Operation Safe Haven, have upheld their commitment to the nation by targeting groups like Boko Haram and bandits that have caused harm for too long.
“Through improved border security and intelligence capabilities, we have disrupted and dismantled criminal networks. Each of you present is aware of the prominent leaders of these groups neutralized by our forces, and I am here to convey that this is only the start,” he said.
Tinubu dismissed suggestions that insecurity in the North-West is a regional issue, arguing that any threat to one part of the country affects the rest.
He emphasized that the government’s promise to secure Nigeria has been its top priority since assuming office over a year ago.

He mentioned that the strategies implemented by the government in combating insecurity in the North-West are beginning to yield positive results, and there will be no easing up until the goal of completely eradicating insurgents is achieved.
Lack of cooperation among security agencies has been identified as a major obstacle in the fight against insecurity.
However, President Tinubu revealed that the government is working tirelessly to enhance cooperation among security agencies to ensure a unified approach in combating insurgency.
He also stated that measures such as following standard operating procedures and rules of engagement are being strictly adhered to in all efforts to combat insurgents.
The government is facilitating joint training exercises, inter-agency cooperation, communication, and information sharing among security agencies.
Notable figures in attendance at the security summit included former President Muhammadu Buhari, Sultan of Sokoto Governor, Dikko Radda; Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, host governor Umar Radda, and other North-West governors.
