Troops neutralise 5 bandits in Kaduna, recover arms, destroy camps

Troops and Special Forces of Operation Whirl Punch (OPWP) of the Nigerian Army have neutralised five bandits during special fighting patrols in the Kachia-Kajuru axis of Kaduna State.

According to a statement issued on Sunday by the State Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, the troops engaged the bandits in Dantarau community, Kajuru Local Government Area, resulting in an intense exchange of gunfire that left five bandits dead.

The operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one locally fabricated sub-machine gun, nine AK-47 magazines, 250 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, two motorcycles, and two handheld radio sets.

Additionally, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch targeted bandit camps in Sabon Birnin Daji, Igabi Local Government Area, resulting in several bandits being neutralised.

Residents of Igabi have been warned against providing medical support to any questionable individuals without contacting security agencies, as some bandits injured in the air strikes are believed to be seeking medical assistance.

Governor Uba Sani praised the troops and the Air Force for their successful operations and urged continued efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and improve security.
